Starting on April 12th, all WordPress users will be given the opportunity to create articles using a special format. Automattic, the parent company of WordPress, is releasing a new feature that allows users to upload posts as Facebook instant articles through their free plugin. This is a great way for WordPress users to drive more traffic to their blogs, as an early analysis suggests that Facebook users are more likely to share Instant articles with their friends rather than the standard web articles.
Instant articles are ideal for viewers that are reading through their smartphones, as it extends the possibilities through auto play videos, audio captions, and interactive maps using HTML tags. In addition, WordPress users are given the convenience of publishing directly from the site.
“The plugin is open source, and we encourage the community to participate in its development to help publishers of all types take full advantage of the fast, native experience of Instant Articles,” says a Facebook spokesperson. “We will continue to iterate the plugin over the coming weeks and look forward to collaborating with the WordPress community to improve the experience.”
